Current LIST OF ASAL AND HARD SUB-COUNTIES IN KENYA

Asal and hard areas are regions with poor social amenities.ASAL is a symbol for Arid and Semi-Arid Lands. This involves poor roads, poor means of transport, inadequate portable and safe-drinking water, non-functional electricity, and others. Those areas have schools and teachers must be posted to teach. Teachers will experience hard times while delivering content and their employer expects them to perform well regardless of the challenges and difficulties they experience.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE HIRED BY TSC

Many are in a race but only a few win. Recently TSC announced the employment of 9000 teachers in junior secondary on permanent and pensionable terms. Many qualified teachers applied and they will be called for interviews. One can be successful but get a regret letter instead of an appointment letter from the TSC due to counterfeit documents or lack of important documents.

You must have the following documents to succeed in both interviews and receive an appointment letter.

  1. Original national identification card and a copy.
  2. Certificate of registration as a teacher (either original certificate or download from link tsc number registration status).
  3. Evidence of internship where applicable. This is actually a copy of the internship agreement form and acceptance of internship letter only for those under internship terms. The originals must be there for clarification
  4. Academic certificates and transcripts. This includes the KCPE certificate, KCSE certificate, degree/diploma certificate, and transcripts for 1st year up to 4th  year. In case one repeated class eight or form four you must have KCPEand or KCSE certificates for both years.
  5. Leaving certificates. This includes primary leaving and secondary leaving certificates.
  6. Letter of certification of results from KNEC where applicable. This applies when the applicant has no original certificate for KCPE/KCSE. You should make arrangements with KNEC to confirm your results through a letter. The date of birth should be the same.
  7. NCPWD card where applicable. This is a card for people leaving with disability. Due to the allocation of special marks during interviews, one must confirm by producing a national card of people with disabilities(NCPWD). You should have a copy also.
  8.  Sworn in an affidavit. This applies when the order of names on the national identification card differs from the order of names on the certificates or if the names on the certificates are not the same. For example, John K Musa and John Kamau Musa are different names meaning you must have an affidavit to confirm K represents Kamau. John Kamau Musa on the national identification card and Musa John Kamau on certificates differ in arrangements meaning you must have an affidavit to confirm they are your names.
  9. Paypoint details. This includes a well-completed PayPoint form (normally given in banks) and a bank plate copy with the account number well indicated.
  10. GP 69 form. This is a medical form normally given in cybercafes and filled in public hospitals by a specialist. Always filled in duplicate.
  11. NHIF card. A copy of the national health insurance fund is needed with the member's number well indicated.
  12. Two latest payslips. If the applicant was under internship, two latest payslips are mandatory. The payslips are downloaded from the T-pay account. In case you lack a T-pay account click how to register a T-pay account.
  13. KRA pin form. A copy of the Kenya revenue authority pin is a requirement. It is available  KRA website.
  14. Application and commitment letters. One must write an application letter addressing the TSC through your new station principal. You must also write a commitment letter to the TSC through the principal stating clearly that you will work for a minimum of five years in your new station without requesting a transfer.
  15. A copy of the graduation booklet page bearing your name. For the TSC to confirm that the applicant is a graduate you must provide a clear scanned copy of the graduation booklet page with your name underlined. In some sub-counties, a graduation booklet cover page is also required.
Having all those documents is a 100% guarantee to get an appointment letter on time. Lack of one or more documents may lead to getting a regret letter from TSC.

NB/ Ensure the date of birth on the national identification card, KCPE leaving certificate, and KSCE leaving certificate are the same.
