The teacher service commission led by Dr. Nancy macharia introduced teacher profession development (TPD) where teachers would train in six modules each taking five years and they pay for themselves.
Teachers' unions (KNUT AND KUPPET) claimed that teachers don't have money to pay for the modules.
The cry has been answered by a circular from TSC which says teachers can access training funds and there are terms and conditions for them to qualify.

For one to qualify for the loan have fulfilled some of the terms and conditions ;- Be a public servant
- Not on probation
- Cleared with the Helb loan board or having serviced your loan for at least six months
